I've just got back from an all inclusive holiday in Majorca, and it was lovely. I did eat quite a bit more than I usually do, not in one sitting, but we had breakfast, lunch and dinner plus in the early hours we would always get a kebab too - YES Kebab!!
The food was the general run of the mill 3 star all inclusive stuff. Noting fancy, but always something pretty tasty. For breakfast I would usually have omelette and baked beans and tomato, or eggs/beans on toast or something like that. I had pate and salad in a roll once too and fruit on occasion. Not much at any one sitting, but it's not a meal I usually eat as I'm always too busy in the mornings and too lazy to get up earlier!
Lunch was very varied as I'm sure you can imagine. I had soup and a roll a couple of times followed by a small salad and chicken drumstick. We had pasta, salads, I also surprisingly for me, several times I ate some of those concoctions they make for the cold buffet - you know the type of thing… a massive plate of mixed up veg and salad in mayo or some vinaigrette etc and you never know what it is. There was squid one one day and bbq chicken one another. They were DIVINE and I would have never tried that kind of thing before bypass, but I found myself trying them because I could tell they were meat/veg and they didn't look like they were dripping in oily sauces. There were also loads of times I had griddled aubergine/courgette/peppers and onions with salad and either fish or chicken too. It was all very nice and went down with ease.
Dinner was much the same as lunch, but there was more of a meat choice. I had meat a couple of times, but I usually find it quite fatty and tummy unsettling unless its chicken so avoided most of the meat offerings apart from chicken, pork kebabs or fish.
After a hard day of sitting in the sun, swimming, tanning and eating, the evenings were big fun as we know so many people the hotel who go every year. It's always great to meet up with them again and after being a bit slaughtered - yes I had Cava or red wine every evening (and trust me, I'm a cheap date these days), it was time to wander up the road for more partying when our hotel bar closed. We would always find ourselves in our mate Sam's Kebab house. He makes the most insanely good kebabs. DH always has the grossest, fattiest, messiest Donner kebab and chips you can ask for, but I aways have the chicken. Sam makes it by piling chicken on a massive pole and spit roasting it over wood fire. Pure, gorgeous succulent chicken marinated in his own spice blend and then its finely sliced and rolled in a wrap with fine chopped beetroot, lettuce, cabbage, peppers, parsley, coriander and chilli sauce and mayo. I cannot describe to you the work of art that it is. Totally unlike the gross lash up style, thrown together kebabs you get here in England! I would post a picture, but I usually leave my phone at the hotel when we go out as it's usually run out of battery by 2am!! Next year I promise I'll get one though.
So with basically 4 meals a day and every night a lash up, I have brought 1kg (2lb) home with me! I am quite amazed to be honest!!
I have lost steadily over the last few months and lost another 5kg (12lbs) in April/May, which is great. I was losing about 0.5kgs -1kgs in May so hoping June will follow suit. Weigh in this morning - 9 months post Band conversation to RNY bypass was 80.9kgs. I should think the excess I put on will be gone by this time next week. The bypass is truly amazing. Even though I ate more, the reduced portion of my tummy means I eat only a small plate, and the bypassed section of my intestine means that I still don't absorb the calories from my food in the amount I used to. It's impressive.
Hubby put on 5kgs to give you an idea!
So back off the booze, back to my usual 2 meals a day and my daily food tracking with MyFitnessPal and we should be all good in no time.
I was just 5kgs away from my goal weight, and I'm still only 6kgs away after the messy week I've just had. I still find it an incredible change, with minimal impact on my life, and to think that I have actually done it this time and it FINALLY WORKED? Well, what can I say apart from the fact I wish I'd done it 10 years ago. 40 is the new 30 though right? Here's to my slim 40's!!
